Fair Trade Bone Pendants

Attractive pieces of fair trade jewellery, hand-carved from water buffalo bone by local craftsmen in Bali. The carvings are strikingly detailed when viewed up close. The strings are fastened using sliding knots, which allow length to be adjusted, and decorated with hand-carved wooden and bone beads.

No animals are killed in order to make these pendants. They are made from animals that have naturally passed away. Craftsmen or women in third world countries like to use all resources that are available to them.

The importer of this product has a direct trading policy. They visit the poorer regions of the world, such as Indonesia, Nepal, Peru and the Amazon in search of quality crafts. Once found they pay a fair price, often making advanced payments to enable the craftsman or artist to purchase raw materials. This direct trading policy currently provides well paid regular employment for about 200 families.
