Fair Trade Pink Heart Necklace

A pretty pink and silver fair trade necklace that had been hand made in India from local materials.

The fair trade chain has be delicately decorated with varying sized and coloured glass beads, the larger ones are heart shaped.

This necklace hangs 26cm in length and would make a perfect gift.

The importer of this fair trade necklace is a member of BAFTS and has been trading fairly for over ten years. They buy fair traded products from India, Indonesia, Nepal and Thailand. Most products are purchased directly from the primary producers. In India they will purchase from larger companies who provide benefits for their workers such as free healthcare and free education. One of their suppliers provide funding for two schools in Rajasthan. One supplier in Nepal supports an orphanage and he gives his workers work clothes and holiday pay.

In Indonesia and Thailand where they only deal with the primary producer the supplier may provide advance payments for them to purchase materials and other necessities. All workers are paid a fair price for each product with is above the national average and men and women are paid the same rate.
