Fair Trade Purple Square Pendant Necklace
This fair trade purple necklace has been hand made from local material in India. The square glass bead pendant has intricate wirework detailing on and around it and a pretty bead that dangles at the bottom.
This fair trade pendant sits on a faux suede thong which is also in purple and the whole necklace measures approx. 28cm long to the end of the pendant.
Presented in this beautiful fair trade Batik box, made in Java, which is perfect to keep jewellery other trinkets in. Each fair trade box is individually hand crafted and finished in material recovered from recycled saris and offcuts thus ensuring that each box is given a unique and varied Batik design. A wonderful, high-quality fair trade gift to give or receive.
The importer of this fair trade necklace is a member of BAFTS and has been trading fairly for over ten years. They buy fair traded products from India, Indonesia, Nepal and Thailand. Most products are purchased directly from the primary producers. In India they will purchase from larger companies who provide benefits for their workers such as free healthcare and free education. One of their suppliers provide funding for two schools in Rajasthan. One supplier in Nepal supports an orphanage and he gives his workers work clothes and holiday pay. In Indonesia and Thailand where they only deal with the primary producer the supplier may provide advance payments for them to purchase materials and other necessities. All workers are paid a fair price for each product with is above the national average and men and women are paid the same rate.
