Fair Trade Sono Wood Figures - Small

Shapely little fair trade figurines, individually hand-carved from local Sono wood by Balinese craftspeople. Each fair trade figurine depicts a person or a couple (in one case a mother and baby) in an engaging pose. The style of these fair trade carvings is abstract and the human body is portrayed in an interesting way, using unexpected shapes and angles, but still creating striking and recognisable images.

By purchasing one of these fair trade figures you are directly supporting the craftspeople who carved them, and their families.

A range of different designs is available in three categories; kissing couples; mother and baby; single person, one will be chosen at random for you from your chosen category.

The importer of these products has a direct trading policy and they are a member of BAFTS. They visit the poorer regions of the world, such as; Indonesia, Nepal, Peru and the Amazon in search of quality crafts. Once found they pay a fair price, often making advanced payments to enable craftsman or artist to purchase raw materials. This direct trading policy currently provides well paid regular employment for about 200 families.
