Fair Trade Stone Heart Necklace

This fair trade stone heart necklace is presented in a lovely fair trade sparkly box and would make an excellent gift especially at Valentine's day.

The heart stones are available in a variety of colours and you may state a preference, but if this is not available we will send you an alternative colour. The stone is hung on two black strings which is around 19cm long.

The importer of this fair trade heart necklace is a member of BAFTS and has been trading fairly for over ten years. They buy fair traded products from India, Indonesia, Nepal and Thailand. Most products are purchased directly from the primary producers. In India they will purchase from larger companies who provide benefits for their workers such as free healthcare and free education. One of their suppliers provide funding for two schools in Rajasthan. One supplier in Nepal supports an orphanage and he gives his workers work clothes and holiday pay.

In Indonesia and Thailand where they only deal with the primary producer the supplier may provide advance payments for them to purchase materials and other necessities. All workers are paid a fair price for each product with is above the national average and men and women are paid the same rate.
